Chicago Based Studio Artist
Dorothy Hughes has taught in the Fiber Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Evanston Art Center in the Chicago suburb, and the Wolverhampton College of Art and Design in England. She studied at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Her commissioned works have elevated intimate residential settings, corporate headquarters' of globally recognized brands, and the Chicago Transit Authority network.
The Chicago Cultural Center highlighted Dorothy's work with a wide ranging one person show, and in 2024 both the Art Institute of Chicago and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art exhibited her Fiber Sculptures.

River North Gallery Walk
Dorothy was one of 26 artists to participate in the Fall Gallery Walk which celebrated 10 years of the River North Design District. Seventeen designer vignettes were set up across 19 venues. Dorothy's Mixed Media work was featured at the Molteni&C flagship store.
